Story
After years of struggling with painful, heavy periods and a sharp decline in my overall health over the last year, doctors have finally established the likely cause as stage 4 (deep infiltrating) Endometriosis.
This condition is identified by deep scarring on multiple organs including the womb, ovaries, bowel, and bladder, leading to a multitude of debilitating daily symptoms - with no cure.
Despite these scars being visible on diagnostic imaging scans, an official diagnosis cannot be achieved without surgery, for which the wait can take years. In fact, the average time to be diagnosed with endometriosis is a staggering 8 years!
That's why I have decided to dedicate this year's Great North Run on September 7th, 2025, to fundraise for Endometriosis UK, the UK’s leading charity for all those affected by endometriosis.
Endometriosis UK are determined to ensure that everyone gets prompt diagnosis and the best treatment and support. They work to break down barriers to access - whether information, treatment or support - wherever endometriosis impacts on lives. They are a powerful voice for those with endometriosis, driving up care standards across the UK.
If you have anything at all you are able to give, please help me support this important cause by donating towards my target of £200. Your contribution can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this condition.
Thank you so much for your support!
