I am currently a Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist but I have worked within Oncology and Palliative Care for the last 20 years. I experience how a person and their loved ones are affected by cancer and the treatments every working day. Although the staff that work within Oncology are incredible, striving to do their best every day, the environment can have a significant impact on the patients/loved ones experience.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a designated Regional Cancer Centre and has provided specialist cancer care for people in our community for more than 60 years supporting hundreds of thousands of local people to receive the best care there is to offer. Many of the current facilities are over 25 years old and a new modern building is needed to care for future generations.

I’m sure that we have all had some kind of connection with someone that has entered the Oncology Centre and it’s those people and future patients that deserve to be treated and cared for in the right environment.
