Story
Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.
Thank you for choosing to trek for Alzheimer's Society, together we can be help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
Friends and family will know how my beloved Mum, Joan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2023. Many tasks are difficult for her now and it's heartbreaking to see her memory loss, confusion and distress at various things. What is precious though, is her ability to still play the piano, make music with others and enjoy being taken to concerts, art galleries, gardens and places of interest. I would do anything to bring back the strong, confident, passionate, wise, fun-loving and dedicated woman she was. Those qualities are still in there but require gentle coaxing.
This is such a cruel disease, many carers speak about losing their loved one little by little, and witnessing the confusion is heartbreaking. Thank you for considering sponsoring me as I trek 13 miles to raise money for this charity.
