Story
Freddie’s story.
My gorgeous boy, Freddie, was born at just 31 weeks at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, weighing only 875 grams. He was so tiny, and from the moment he arrived, he had a tough start—chronic lung disease, a hole in his heart, and had a major pulmonary haemorrhage on his second day of life. If it wasn’t for the incredible team in the neonatal unit, Freddie wouldn’t be here today.
He spent five long months in the NICU, fighting every day, and thanks to the amazing care he received, we were finally able to bring him home. Nearly a year on, he’s doing amazingly well and hitting milestones we weren’t sure we’d ever see. The team not only saved his life, but they’ve continued to support us even after we left the hospital—and that’s made all the difference.
So now, I want to give something back. I’ll be abseiling down the new building at Luton & Dunstable, which will eventually become the new neonatal unit. It’s my small way of saying thank you—to help them keep doing what they do best, and to make sure future NICU parents have the best space possible.
1 in 7 babies end up needing neonatal support - any donation you are able to make will make a huge difference to their stay.
Thank you xxxx
