Alder Hey takes on Yr Wyddfa challenge 2026

Story

Team Phoenix is made up of MD Daniel Thompson, Customer Service & Technical Manager Rebecca Sparkes and also Warehouse Supervisors Lee Carmichael and Shaun McCann.

Phoenix Safe Company have chosen this year to support Alder Hey Children’s Charity after the support they have been for one of their very own staff member’s children over the past few years.

In December 2022 Alfie’s life took an unexpected turn. After nine years of unknowingly living with several underlying health conditions, he received a diagnosis that altered his world forever. The compassionate team at Alder Hey swiftly stepped in conducting numerous scans and initiating an initial surgery to address some of Alfie’s health issues. Despite their efforts, Alfie now faces irreversible bladder and kidney damage, necessitating lifelong monitoring and management.

Alfie has since then undergone 15 surgeries, many procedures, endured extended hospital stays, and attended countless appointments with various medical specialists. Throughout these challenges, Alfie has demonstrated remarkable courage, maintaining a strong bond with the caring staff at Alder Hey who have supported him during his medical journey. For Alfie, Alder Hey remains a sanctuary where he feels safe and reassured, knowing he will receive exceptional care during future visits.

Alfie is an ambassador for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. His dedication to fundraising, positive outlook and inspirational demeanour have been recognised. This role not only acknowledges his past contributions but also empowers him to continue advocating for the hospital that has become his second home.

Although Alfie will always face medical challenges that will impact on his life one thing that he does not have to worry about is the level of care he receives from Alder Hey.
