Story

The motivation behind my charity swim is, the memory of both my father (17/11/2023) and mother in law (22/11/2009) who both sadly passed away on these dates from Glioblastoma Multiform, which is a very aggressive brain cancer. I nursed my dear father for over two and half months every day and during the nights, right to the end until his death in my arms. So I have seen first hand how awful this disease is.

Gliobastoma multiform , is a fast growing form of brain cancer , and currently there is no cure. We must find a cure in the future to stop this invasive disease from taking more lives. I want to help create an understanding of what people go through when faced with this horrible and cruel disease. More research needs to be done to prevent this disease and most importantly to cure it.

Finally, I want to do something really positive. In January 2024 I had a dream to swim to raise money inspired by the film about Diana Nyad who swam 110 miles none stop from Cuba to Florida. I myself will be embarking on a two mile swim at the Serpentine London in September datesTBC. I thank you all in advance for any donations all the best Rebecca.
