Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am excited to share that I will be participating in the City of Lincoln 10K on April 12, 2026, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

In February last year — on Spencer’s birthday — his life changed completely.

What started as a severe illness escalated fast. He was hospitalised with pneumonia that developed into empyema, and was placed in an induced coma while doctors fought to stabilise him. During this time, his heart was put under extreme strain, and was later diagnosed with heart failure.

When he eventually woke up, he wasn’t the same person physically or mentally. He had lost significant strength, couldn’t walk properly, and had to relearn basic movements most people take for granted. Recovery wasn’t just about healing — it was about rebuilding.

Heart failure isn’t something people expect at a young age, and it doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed. It impacts families, routines, confidence, and the future you thought you had mapped out. Throughout all of this, as his mum I have been constantly supporting him through hospital stays, rehab, setbacks, and the slow process of getting his life back on track.

That’s why I’m running this 10K.

I’m running to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, whose research, education, and support help people like Spencer live with — and fight back against — heart conditions. I’m running for awareness, for resilience, and for everyone whose lives have been turned upside down by heart disease.

Every donation helps fund vital research and support that gives people a second chance — just like Spencer was given.

Thank you for supporting me, and thank you for supporting the British Heart Foundation.

The work that the BHF does is truly life-changing. They have played a crucial role in halving the number of people dying from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK. However, every day, hundreds of lives are still lost to these conditions. It is heartbreaking to think about those who are affected and their families who suffer alongside them.

This is where we can make a difference together! Your support can help fund vital research that leads to new treatments and cures. Just £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound counts towards reaching my target of £1,000.

I would be incredibly grateful for any contribution you can make to help me achieve this goal and support such an important cause. Thank you for your generosity!
