The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

Today, I’m asking for your support for a cause that means so much to me.

My nephew made me an aunt for the very first time, and he also introduced me to a world I knew very little about before. He is autistic, and from the moment he came into my life, he has taught me more than he will ever realise. He’s funny, kind, determined, incredibly clever, and sees the world in his own unique way.

More than anything, I want both of my beautiful nephews to grow up knowing that being different is never something to hide. I want them to know that he can achieve anything he sets their mind to, and that the world is a better place because it is filled with different minds, different perspectives, and different ways of thinking. I hope that, in some small way, I can lead by example and show them that their aunt never stopped chasing her goals, never stopped believing in herself, and never let fear stand in the way of making a difference.

Working in mental health has also given me the privilege of supporting autistic individuals and people with other forms of neurodiversity. Every person I’ve worked with has reminded me that there is no single “right” way for a brain to work. Neurodiverse minds bring creativity, honesty, resilience, innovation, and perspectives that make our communities stronger.

This fundraiser is so much more than raising money. It’s about raising awareness, celebrating neurodiversity, and helping build a world where autistic people are understood, accepted, and empowered to be unapologetically themselves.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be so grateful. And if donating isn’t possible, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world.

Thank you for helping create a future where every neurodiverse person knows they belong and where my nephews grow up believing there is nothing they can’t achieve. ❤️
