Story

Bushey Federation Schools and the Robbin's family are raising money for Starfish Ward at Watford General Hospital (WGH). On the week beginning 16th June, students at Bushey Federation Schools will be running a combined marathon to support the local children's hospital, a hospital where one of their students has been receiving treatment for Leukaemia in the past 9 months. We will also be holding a bake sale on Sport's Day.

Ethan was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia in September 2024, and is receiving treatment from both GOSH and WGH. We are very thankful to the staff at WGH for picking up on some abnormalities in his blood after he was blue lighted to the hospital following an asthma attack. During the first month of his treatment, following chemotherapy, Ethan spent almost 6 weeks in hospital due to a fungal infection that affected many of his organs. The time we spent in GOSH over these weeks were extremely hard for Ethan as he was in isolation for most of it, and his mobility was not good.

The day they wheeled in a games cart was awesome! This was a cart that had a Switch games console, a large screen, inbuilt games and extra controllers. We had a lot of fun that weekend (as did his siblings when they visited), and it really lifted his spirits. We would love to raise enough money to fund one of these games carts for the Starfish Ward to provide other children with the same distraction and enjoyment Ethan had. DanTDM donated ALOT of these to GOSH and has inspired us to do the same (on a much smaller scale!) for our local hospital. We even met him while we were there, and Ethan beat him at Mario Cart.

Each cart is around £3000 as it is specifically designed for a hospital environment. We hope, with the help of the Bushey Federation Schools, to raise enough money to fund one of these carts. Any little you are able to give towards our fundraising will help to bring joy to a child who is treated at WGH. Thank you!
