For those of you who know me, running is only a dream and far from a reality. However as the CEO of Rape Crisis South London, I am thrilled to be joining my colleagues, staff, partners, friends and survivors at our first IWD event.

To manage expectations, my participation will be at a brisk walk pace, coffee in hand in anticipation of meeting amazing women from all walks of life at the Women's Run Series event on International Women's Day (Sunday, March 8th, 2026) at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The why I am doing this is simple,. Every day I have the privilege of meeting inspirational women and girls that are survivors of rape and or sexual abuse. Each one deserving of our support and respect as they rebuild their lives, however at Rape Crisis South London the wait list for services is up to 2 years and we have over 500 survivors on our wait list, all due to the lack of funding and the sheer size of the 12 London Borough we support.

The horror of the reality is that more than 1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16.

6 in 7 rapes against women are carried out by someone they KNOW. 1 in 20 children in the UK have been sexually abused.

As a woman and a member of RCSL, I want ensure all survivors have the right and safety to say ..........
