On 13th September 2026 Phil Redding, Phoebe Redding, Albie Redding, Jamie Bates, and Lucy Petrie are cycling from London to Brighton for a very special cause.

This is because out of the blue in January 2026 someone very special to all of us, the incredible Cal Petrie, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. To say this was a shock would be an understatement…

The tumour is a pineoblastoma, which is incredibly rare. Only 100-200 people per year globally are diagnosed with this tumour, and this is even rarer in Cal’s age group. He had immediate major surgery to remove the majority of the tumour, and since has undergone radiotherapy and continues his chemotherapy as I write this, 8 months after the original diagnosis.

Now, less than 1% of cancer research funding is allocated to brain tumours but even less funding goes to researching pineoblastomas. Yet progress is only made through research and research is only possible with funding, hence why The Brain Tumour Charity is so important.

There is little you can do when someone you love is going through this kind of ordeal but we CAN get on our bikes and ride in his name to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, a charity that not only funds research into cancers such as Cal’s but also supports families who are dealing with the reality of this.

Many of you reading this probably know someone close to you who has been effected by cancer, and so you may know how undergoing treatment, like Cal is so brilliantly doing at the moment, completely halts any plans you had, and ripples into so many other aspects of your life.

So, on 13th September we will be cycling from London to Brighton and facing the extra challenge at the end of the ride on infamous Ditchling Beacon. We ride for Cal to make some difference as he faces his own challenge.
