Story
We are raising money for Red Rose Recovery to support people experiencing poor mental health, isolation, trauma, addiction, and other life challenges across our communities.
Every year, 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem, whilst thousands of lives are lost to suicide. Behind every statistic is a real person, a family, a struggle, and a story.
As a lived experience recovery organisation, Red Rose Recovery provides peer-led support, wellbeing activities, recovery groups, and safe community spaces that help people rebuild confidence, connection, and hope.
This fundraiser forms part of the Summer Solstice ‘Sunrise to Sunset’ 17-hour Walking Challenge in partnership with Lancashire Mind, where participants will walk throughout the day to raise awareness of mental health and the importance of community support.
🖤 Challenge Explained 🖤
From sunrise to sunset, participants will walk continuously around a circular running track for up to 17 hours.
The challenge is intentionally repetitive and mentally demanding. Walking lap after lap around the same track reflects the reality many people experience whilst struggling with their mental health, feelings of being stuck, going in circles, emotional exhaustion, isolation, and fighting battles that others often cannot see.
But the challenge also represents something far more powerful…
That even when progress feels slow, every single step forward still counts.
Throughout the day, walkers will support one another, encourage one another, and keep moving forward together, symbolising the importance of connection, community, and peer support within recovery.
For many people, recovery is not a straight line. It can feel exhausting, repetitive, and overwhelming at times. This challenge is about recognising those struggles whilst raising vital funds to ensure people do not have to face them alone.
You don’t find the edge of your ability without falling off it occasionally. To go to the edge takes courage and sometimes we have to accept a fall with courage, too. There’s no failure in that.
Every donation will help us continue delivering life-changing recovery and wellbeing support for individuals and families who need it most.
Together, we can help ensure nobody has to face mental health struggles alone.
