Story
Hi, my name is Reece, and I’m taking on the Great North Run 2025 with my dad (and his rickety old knees) to raise funds for a cause that is very close to my heart – Teenage Cancer Unit. The money will specifically go towards The Teenage Cancer Unit at the Freeman Hospital, to allow others in the position I was in to get the support they need.
My life was changed dramatically on the 28th of March 2024 when I was diagnosed with three brain tumours. After three weeks in the RVI (Royal Victoria Infirmary) I was lucky enough to receive proton beam radiotherapy in Manchester at the Christie Proton Centre.
Throughout the incredibly challenging time, Teenage and Young Adult Team played a huge role in my rehabilitation, offering support and an understanding of what it means to be a young person facing cancer, which made all the difference in my recovery.
Now I am running alongside my dad to give back to the charity that has helped me through my toughest days. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us raise as much money as possible to help Teenage and Young Adult Team continue their incredible work.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me and my family!
