My Mum has a rare disease called NMO ( nueromyelitis optica) / Devics disease/ Mog antibody which is an autoimmune disease which attacks the Mylin sheath ( nerve coatings ) in the optic nerves and spinal cord. With every attack the recovery becomes less and less and can lead to eventual blindness and paralysis. There is currently no cure and the drugs used to try to control attacks are extremely aggressive and have horrible side effects.

The reason why I am going to run half a marathon is because of my mums disease which causes her to be unable to sleep. She has had lots of attacks and has lost most of her sight in one eye already. Her eyes are also very sensitive to light and everything is to bright and has to wear sunglasses all the time, even indoors. It also effects her legs with numbness and burning pains and is unable to work. I’m really hoping they can find a cure for this disease so I’m trying to raise as much money as I can so if you can help a little or a lot then I would really appreciate it and it will help to spur me on with all the training over next 12 weeks.
