Story
3 years ago, I decided it seemed like a fun idea to sign up for a 1000 mile, 35 day run from Lands End to John O'Groats.
Now, in exactly one month, I will set off on day one of that adventure.
I have always enjoyed running and done various short, long and ultra events, but this will be the biggest one yet (and likely ever).
I would be so grateful if you would be able to support me and my charity while I undertake the biggest physical and mental challenge of my life and you get to laugh at the self-inflicted joint pains and moaning about me being tired that will no doubt occur.
While it will be hard for me to run the length of the country, that challenge pales into insignificance when it is compared to that which many children and their families face every day due to childhood cancer.
In my daily work as a GP, cancer is all too common. So much good work is going on to help all those affected by cancer, and their families, but I am always struck by the impact, but amazing resilience of children and their families when a child is diagnosed with cancer.
We all want treatments against cancer in all forms, but we should surely strive to protect our youngest, who have so much potential ahead of them and so very much need research, support and treatments to beat cancer.
For that reason, I will be doing the run in aid of Children with Cancer UK and it would be great if you could help me to help them and all the people they help through their work.
