Although the construction of the Rob Burrow centre for MND is well underway they require much needed funding to furnish it to a level these patients deserve. So another year, another inspirational chat with my special friend Lindsey Burrow and another last minute challenge all motivated by the memory of a true legend Rob Burrow…….

In under 2 weeks time with very little training as part of a relay team of 7 friends who have agreed to help we are going to take part in the Rob Burrow marathon (I vowed never again after last time but this special cause pulls at my heartstrings).

Thank you so so much for agreeing to be part of the team Tash Miller, Victoria McGowan, Julie Giblin, Becky Morris, Lindsey Mildren and Karen Banks you ladies are amazing many of you who have never ran a race before.

Since Rob’s diagnosis I have been shocked by how many people that I know have first hand experience of this awful disease. In our team Julie has a friend Maxine Smedley who has been recently diagnosed.

She’s a very strong person and not letting it get her down. She is supported by her close friends and most importantly her partner of 15 years Alison. It is for people like Maxine that we take on this challenge as in the words of Rob himself we need to keep “Banging the Drum”

My friends, family and colleagues were all so kind and generous last time that I feel very cheeky once again asking you for your support but I hope you understand my passion to ensure the centre is completed to the standard that people like Maxine who are fighting this disease and Rob’s Legacy deserve.

When playing for Leeds Rhinos Rob's shirt number was 7. Our target is £777 and we would be very grateful for any support to help us achieve our goal. Any donation would be so very much appreciated by us, the Leeds Hospital Charity and the Burrow family.
