Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Emily was just 8 years old when she died from an incurable, cancerous brain tumour in 2022. Her family and friends were appalled to learn that treatments haven’t moved on in decades and that a terminal diagnosis is often the case for many types of brain tumour. Emily’s tumour, a diffuse midline glioma, has a 0% chance of survival. How can this be that brilliant, brave Emily was handed a death sentence upon diagnosis? We MUST do better for our brain tumour patients. The Tessa Jowell Foundation are dedicated to improving treatments centres throughout the UK and we are proud to fundraise for them in Emily’s name.

We have designed a heart shaped walk to be known as ‘Emily’s Yellow Heart Hike’ for this fundraiser. It is 15km through Harpenden and the surrounding areas, taking in places that Emily loved such as Batford Springs, Rothamsted Park and The Nickey Line. It starts and ends at The Marquis of Granby Pub at 2:30pm on Saturday 19th September. It will be 1500 days without Emily just before the 19th September so it is fitting that we try and raise this amount of money in her memory.

Emily’s legacy of kindness, creativity and fun will live on through us, her family and friends as we take on this heart shaped 15km walk. Please support us and donate, share or even join us on the day! Thank you 💛
