Hector was tragically taken from us in a hill-walking accident, leaving behind his beloved wife and boys, who are mourning the loss of their adored friend, husband and father.

Skye Mountain Rescue is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills and courage to help those in danger on those mountains. The team bravely risked their own lives to bring Hector safely home, and we will always be grateful for their courage and kindness. Please consider donating in Hector’s memory to support their vital, life-saving work.

Hector was a renowned scholar and thinker: he was a priest, professor, researcher, and author of international repute. He was admired for his warmth and compassion, his humility and integrity.  He touched many lives with his accepting openness towards others, his wit and his humour.
