Anyone who knew Marc recognised a wonderful, friendly, and chatty person. He would chat with you particularly excitedly if you were interested in history (especially wars and Romans), railways, or sci-fi (especially Dr Who). When he did this, you often couldn't even tell he had an intellectual disability; he was a mine of information!

Marc was the brother with whom I have so many happy memories of our childhood and then teenage years in Nigeria - such adventures! When we were older and I got a job, I took him to Rome for a few days where he just came alive from being surrounded by such rich history!

Over the last year, he was really coming into his own as an independent adult, expressing himself, including a bit of DIY decoration in his flat (much to the landlords surprise!) Thanks for understanding, Chris!

I was just starting to reconnect better with Marc, being his main next-of-kin and overall carer since mum's death last year. He reluctantly received my advice and promptly ignored it on most occasions though! He was often stubborn as a mule but a bit of joviality usually did the trick.

Nevertheless, so many people could learn from Marc about friendship. Marc and his best friend (ever), Ian, were like peas in a pod, or partners in 'crime', having met in residential care as teenagers. Marc loved making annual plans to meet up and travel down to Eastbourne for the air show. Otherwise they would sit and recite entire scripts from Dr Who, Monty Python, and Blackadder, and follow it up with a tune or two from Ian on his recorder!

Some people knew that Marc was often Marc, but that sometimes, he enjoyed being Jessica. Most of the people prominent in his life were accepting of this fact, thankfully. After all, it was no one's business but his.

Marc should have had so many more years of fun and freedom, but these were taken from him so cruelly. I will miss my BFG brother so very much.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donation you can make to Marc's beloved Spa Valley Railway, where he often used to volunteer. I know he'd be happy that we were doing this for them.
