Walk from Pewsey to Salisbury · 12 October 2024

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong health & wellbeing support for the UK fire & rescue community, empowering individuals and families to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. This includes serving and retired firefighters, control and support teams.

Story

Saturday 12 October will be the first anniversary of T/SM Mark Hillier’s death in a road traffic collision.

Mark, who was on-call station commander at Pewsey fire station, was responding to his alerter when he died.

To remember him, and to celebrate his life, Mark’s family, fire station colleagues and friends are going to do a memorial walk from Salisbury fire station to Pewsey.

Prior to his temporary promotion, Mark was a wholetime WM at Salisbury Green Watch. The walk between his two stations will be approximately 30 miles, and there will be a gathering at the Coopers Arms in Pewsey at the end.

While the event is primarily a memorial walk, those taking part have set up an online giving page, should anyone wish to donate to the Fire Fighters Charity in Mark’s name.
