Story
My beloved past students,
As you are likely all aware, teachers, despite their multiple degrees and
academic honors, do not earn on par with other professions that have the
same level of education. It has always puzzled me that those heroes who
are responsible for the intellectual, emotional, psychological and, in STA’s
case, religious development of our children, our most prized possessions,
are not as valued by our society as other professionals.
The Teachers’ Assistance Alliance (TAA) is an independent 501©3, created
by persons who love ST. THOMAS AQUINAS HIGH SCHOOL (STA) but
are not employed by the school.
Its purpose is to help the teachers of STA by raising funds for gifting them
all with small gifts for special occasions, like giving the faculty a small
bonus at Christmas or during Teachers Appreciation Week. Also, helping
them individually, if undergoing an unexpected crisis in their lives that puts
an unbearable strain on their finances, like the illness of a child, or having
great damage at their home caused by fire or natural disasters.
We don’t want teachers to have to single-handedly deal with situations
such as these, knowing that their incomes would not allow them to manage
them effectively.
The result of this loving assistance is that teachers will feel more
appreciated and cherished, thus raising their morale, self-worth and energy.
This psychological boost is a gift that will positively impact STA’s greatest
treasure… our student body… our children!
This will be evident by our ever-increasing college acceptance,
scholarships, academic and athletic awards and the plethora of honors
bestowed on the school, its teachers and administrators.
Also, it would be great if the TAA served as an example to other schools to
encourage their supporters (not employees of the school) to organize an
alliance similar to the TAA, with the same mission.
I know that many of you love STA and are grateful for the wonderful
teachers who devoted much time and effort to encourage you to be the
wonderful person that you are today. If I am correct, I have two requests to
make of you:
1. Please make a donation to our TAA, if you can, at whatever
amount is comfortable for you. The link to make the donation is
below. If you can’t… no problem… but do take part in request #2
below.
(Place link here)
2. Equally important, I would love for you to write a short statement
about a teacher in your time at STA that positively influenced your
life and how. We would make sure to get that statement to the
teachers mentioned and I am certain it would mean a great deal to
them, even if they have retired. It would be wonderful to have a
get-together eventually where we could invite these teachers to
visit with you!
Thank you all so much, and, as always, I LOVE YOU ALL!
PS – Please feel free to share this post with your own friends on Facebook
who share your love for our beloved STA.
