The Big Chop for Little Princess Trust

The Big Chop

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

I’m cutting these long ginger locks and donating them to The Little Princess Trust.

It costs £700 to make each wig, so that’s my fundraising target. Once I’ve raised that for them, I’ll get my hair chopped off and donate that too.

I’m fundraising in memory of my mum, who was diagnosed with tonsil cancer back in 2009. The treatment left her unable to swallow for the rest of her life. Despite this being a massive struggle in so many ways, she continued to live life with such passion and appreciation. Heartbreakingly we lost her last year down to another cancer, and various complications. To the very end she showed strength, courage and a love that knew no bounds. My mum loved a story, and if I can play a part in the story of a young person finding new confidence and happiness through a new head of hair, I know that would make her proud.
