Every Christmas Eve, our volunteers deliver food parcels to families across Renfrewshire who are experiencing hardship. This year will be the sixth year that the Renfrewshire Food Giveaway has provided practical support at what can be a financially and emotionally challenging time for many households.

We currently support around 215 families, with each family receiving grocery bags valued at more than £100. These parcels are made possible through the generosity of local individuals, businesses and community partners, and they help ease pressure on families who may already be struggling with food, heating and household bills.

Your donation will help us purchase longer-life groceries so we can provide balanced food parcels alongside the surplus fresh food we collect from local supermarkets and shops on Christmas Eve.

Families are referred to us by local schools, social work, health centres and community groups, helping ensure support reaches households most in need. At a time when many families are under real pressure, these food parcels offer practical help, reassurance and a reminder that their community cares.

Alongside the Christmas food giveaway, Streetcare Volunteers also coordinates a weekly homeless street team in Glasgow city centre, collecting surplus perishable food from supermarkets and distributing it to hostels. On Christmas Eve, when surplus food increases as stores close for the holidays, our volunteer drivers help ensure that good food reaches people who need it rather than going to landfill.
