We’ll be working with our partner charity, ACET, in Tororo, Uganda, alongside two local agricultural experts who will run tree-planting workshops for 20 subsistence farmers across 10 farms. Each farmer will receive 10 fruit trees, along with practical training on how to care for them organically and adapt their orchards to a changing climate. The project will support farmers from a range of backgrounds, including lower-income households, helping them grow nutritious food while building more resilient and sustainable livelihoods.

Farmers face challenges including inability to access quality seedlings & limited technical knowledge. This can lead to low yields and poor fruit quality, and spoilage due to poor storage and transport.

With its fertile soils and favourable climate, Tororo supports the cultivation of a variety of fruit crops like bananas, avocados, mangoes, jackfruit and citrus fruits. Yum!

The fruit tree planting project's objectives are to:

- Empower rural farmer communities

- Conserve the environment.

- Build skills and technical knowledge to grow, harvest and correctly store orchard fruits with 3 years of support.

- Enhance the nutritional value of family diets.

- Eliminate deficiency diseases & reduce poverty.

- Carbon capture.

- Build further Community Strength.
