This year, I’ve said yes to a challenge that's equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking – taking part in Strictly for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester!

As a local business owner, I was honoured (and slightly terrified!) to be invited to take part in this fantastic charity event. While I danced as a child and absolutely loved it, ballroom dancing is a whole new world for me! Think less Strictly Come Dancing, more strictly out of my comfort zone…

I’ll meet my dance partner in June and together we’ll have just 8 hours of lessons to learn a full routine before performing it live at Chester Racecourse in September. That’s right – lights, audience, sequins… and only eight hours to pull it all together!

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd provides its services free of charge to its patients and costs £5.2million to run each year with just 17% of the funding received coming from statutory sources. The remaining 83% is raised from a range of fundraising activities and the support of the generous local community in Cheshire. In addition, they raise money through their local charity shops and weekly lottery.
