Vale Domestic Abuse Service isn’t just a charity to me. It’s part of my life’s story. I was one of the founding members back in 1993, when we were fighting — properly fighting — to make sure women and children in the Vale had somewhere safe to run, someone to believe them, and a chance to rebuild without fear hanging over them.

I’ve seen the difference safety makes. I’ve seen the strength of women who survived things they never should have had to face. I’ve seen children finally sleep through the night. I’ve seen what hope looks like and how life can change when safe abd supported.

And I’ve also seen how much work is still left to do.

So here I am, decades later, still carrying this cause, still refusing to let it fade, still putting one foot in front of the other because women and children in our community deserve nothing less.
