Hackney Half Marathon 2024 · 19 May 2024 ·

Our mission is to eradicate institutional racism for the next generation through the advancement of education and early intervention. We deliver racial justice and inclusion educational programmes in schools and leadership and activism programmes outside of school.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a trustee for a wonderful charity called the Every Future Foundation which runs racial equity programmes that aim to give young people and their educators a solid foundation of race and equality combined with leadership skills and self-belief to trust that they can be “the change they want to see in the world”.

This is a cause I am passionate about. As a social psychologist who does research on intergroup relations, and has seen the extensive benefits of engaging with diversity, I believe that charities such as this, which directly tackle these challenging issues through education, rather than shying away from them, are crucial in making the world a better place.

In order to support the Every Future Foundation, I plan to run the Hackney Half Marathon on May 19th. Just to make the whole process even more fun (!!), I will also be running the Spar Craic 10k (March 17th), the Portadown Half Marathon (March 24th), the Larne Coast Road 10 Mile Race (April 13th) and Belfast Marathon (May 5th). I think that's 55 miles worth of races, in addition to all the miles of training, so hopefully I'll be super fit and ready to hit the streets of Hackney by the time the Hackney Half comes around, and ready to do the charity proud!

Every step I take is dedicated to racial equity and justice. The Foundation is committed to creating lasting change by empowering the next generation of leaders through racial equity programs. Together, let's pave the way for a more just and equitable world.

Every £1 I raise will go towards funding activism programmes for young people with lived experiences of racism.
