Ride for Rhinos 2025

As most of you already know I have been crazy about animals (all sorts) from a young age (up to a level of annoyance for some probably where it concerns time spent with horses instead of at home:).
In 2022 I visited the Waterberg area in South-Africa on a horse riding safari (a lifelong dream) where I got the chance to get up close with one of the most endangered species on this planet; the rhino, and where I got to see firsthand how special these animals truly are and the effort and work that goes in to protecting them and ensuring the rhinos in the Waterberg area stay safe, healthy and happy. The Waterberg is one of the last bastions of rhino on the planet (and second-largest worldwide) and Waterberg Rhino UK is on a mission to ensure that the rhino has a fighting chance to survive and live in this world despite the threat this animal is under due to poaching.
To sponsor this cause, an annual sponsored ride of 250 km is organized in the Waterberg area in South-Africa called Ride for Rhinos. The purpose is to raise funds for rhino conservation and community support for the region, by helping to bring opportunity and economic benefit. The Waterberg needs all our support to ensure that these magnificent animals have a future. All riders participating in Ride for Rhinos are committed to raising funds for the cause and each rider will fully pay for their own costs and expenses. Every penny raised through this page will go directly to Waterberg Rhino UK and the protection and preservation of the rhinos in the Waterberg.
This year I will be one of the riders participating in Ride for Rhinos and taking on the challenge!
There are 12 places available each year for experienced riders. The Ride starts on the 15,000 acre reserve belonging to Ant Africa Safaris, before setting out across the stunning landscape of the Waterberg. Over the week, riders will ride with rhino, canter with giraffe, camp under the African night sky and make friends for life. It truly is an adventure of a lifetime that requires determination, a level of fitness and a sense of humour to make the distance of 250km, and up to 7 hours a day in the saddle in the midst of the South-African summer season.
If you have a big heart for animals and/or if you have anything to spare - no matter how big or small the amount; every penny raised helps and is greatly appreciated! - please sponsor me on this journey,
Thank you tremendously for your support,
X Louise
