Hospice Care week is a chance for us all to champion hospice care nationwide.

This year’s theme is: hospice care is more than you think.

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice offers care to patients, and support for their families, in our inpatient unit, in the community, our local hospitals, and in people’s homes.

We offer choices of place of care, look at everyone as a whole person, and don’t just focus on their condition.

We help people to spend time on what is important to them, and live their lives to the full in the time that is left to them. We also care for families before and after their loved one’s death.

At the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow we receive referrals for 1200 new patients and families every year. This comes at a cost of £9.5m, of which we need to fundraise £6.9m.

Even with our best efforts, we commenced this year with a budgeted deficit of £755k

Hence the reason for setting myself a challenge.

I plan to get the Spin Bike out and cycle 100miles during Hospice Care week.

I’m hoping you will support me to raise funds for our essential patient and family care.
