Story
10 years ago dad and I embarked on a challenge to raise funds for BHF following his successful recovery from major heart surgery that saved his life.
10 years on and I’m doing it again, sadly this time without him by my side. I do however have a wonderful running and fundraising buddy in my soon to be brother in law Nick who has kindly agreed to take on this challenge with me!
While we all had hoped dad’s surgery would give him longer with us - what an incredible and significant 9 years it did give us.
9 years saw him meet his grand daughter Ellie, meet Catriona’s future husband Nick, be at our wedding and meet our two boys Noah and Archie. Not to mention countless precious every day family moments, memories we now treasure.
Charities like BHF help give families like ours the most precious gift of all - time. And we’d like to give back again, in honour of our dad and the extra time we got to spend with him.
We would both hugely appreciate any donations to support this important cause.
We have also set up a playlist on Spotify for our run and would love it if you would contribute a song for the playlist - please let us know your song of choice when you make a donation and we look forward to hearing it as we pound the pavements of Edinburgh in May.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
