Story

I've always been a little bit odd, you'll know that well if you know me personally. Now, for some bizarre spontaneous reason, i've signed up to an comedy event where I will actually be one of the acts, hurrah people will be laughing at me for charity for once... instead of for questionable lifechoices/antics.

I know it might seem a bit of a diversion from my legal training, but the legal industry is kind of funny as it is, after all, it's the only industry where you write a 10,000 word document then call it a 'brief'. Why now I hear you asking? Well, it was a new years resolution of mine last year to attempt standup, and I managed it by the skin of my teeth on December 20th after being invited to get up on stage at a comedy event after heckling some poor bastard who was doing their best. I'm now going to double down and try my hand at it a bit more properly and open myself up to the heckles.

Perhaps i'll be amazing, perhaps i'll sink - either way I assure you it will be amusing to watch.

And as for the charity i've chosen? Longridge is a community-focused water sports and outdoor educational centre that really is a staple of the community I grew up in. It has provided some of the most wonderful and unique memories for so many people that have been through its doors, and provides countless opportunities for personal growth and development through its outreach programs for both staff and visitor. It faces constant environmental challenges from being on a flood plain and global warming being a bitch, so they are constantly struggling to stay afloat.

They've even been the training centre for some of out gold medal winning olympians, so you know that they're the dogs bollocks when it comes to boats - but they're a charity and they give back more than they feasibly can most of the time...so I want to help. Not to mention that ALL the staff there are such incredibly lovely, talented people who could be making absolute bank in the private sector but have instead devoted themselves to the cause.

I’m aiming to raise £1,000 for Longridge as part of my participation in Ultra Comedy London on June 22nd, 2025. Your support would mean the world—not just to me but also to everyone who benefits from Longridge's invaluable courses and programs.

Together we can help keep this amazing community resource thriving!
