Edinburgh Marathon in aid of Ayrshire Hospice

Edinburgh Marathon 2024 · 26 May 2024 ·
On the 26th of May 2024, I will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for Ayrshire Hospice.
The Ayrshire hospice provides specialised palliative care and support to individuals with terminal illness. They are consistently aiming to meet the needs of those facing terminal illness whilst providing dignity, comfort, compassion and end of life care.
I know this as I have seen it all first hand. When Covid-19 brought on the most demanding times - physically, mentally and emotionally. My auntie Marie was given her cancer diagnosis during this time which lead to her spending the last 10 weeks of her life at Ayrshire Hospice.
At a time where restrictions meant that we were not able to give or receive love in the most normal way - nurses and staff worked tirelessly within and managed to take our love and comfort from the window and put it into the care they offered. My auntie Marie died peacefully on the 14th of October 2021 surrounded by exceptional staff. You will be forever missed.
Thinking I couldn’t have respected the Ayrshire Hospice more, I was proven wrong. I met my girlfriend Carly, who sadly lost her mum 8 years ago to breast cancer. She received the same effortless care throughout the most difficult period of her life and her families life’s. I sadly never got the opportunity to meet Rosie but I see her in Carly every day and that, I am so grateful.
As this will be my first full marathon, I know that the training is going to be physically & mentally demanding. Knowing that the money raised can be used to provide support, love and comfort to another individual or family in a similar position will continue to keep me focused and increase my motivation levels.
Any words of encouragement / donations would be greatly appreciated!
