Story
Unlike many physical ailments, dementia doesn't just attack the body; it steals the very essence of who a person is, gradually stripping away their memories, their ability to reason, and their connection to loved ones. It transforms a person from a familiar parent, spouse, or friend into a stranger, leaving behind a shell that can no longer recognize faces or recall shared experiences. The pain is not only borne by the individual, who may experience confusion and fear, but also by their family and caregivers who must watch as the person they love slowly vanishes before their eyes.
As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK is working to revolutionise the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. And then, the ultimate goal of a cure.
To do this, they’re investing in the best research, powering the most forward-thinking scientists and joining forces with world-class organisations.
As this charity is very close to my heart, I have decided to take a massive leap out of my comfort zone and run the marathon des géants in Toulouse on Sunday 2nd November. To help spur me on, I would love to raise £1000 for this amazing charity. So please donate! ❤️
