South Coast Ultra Challenge 2024 · 7 September 2024 ·

We work in partnership with University Hospital Southampton to fund projects beyond what NHS budgets can cover – improving care, experience, and outcomes for thousands of patients each year. From innovative equipment to pioneering research, our supporters make this progress possible.

Story

UPDATE: Due to Southampton hospital charity changing their charity number, I have had to set up a new page for this fundraiser. On the previous page, an incredible £2,368 has been raised. Thank you all so much for your generosity! 🙏

Earlier this year, my wife Sophie and I had a huge surprise when our daughter, Lorelei, was born at 24 +6 weeks old (15 weeks premature).

Devastatingly, Lorelei had many complications over her short life, and on the 23rd March at 2 months old, passed away peacefully with us. Her life, though short, was filled with amazing love and care from all the nurses at Princess Anne Hospital. As you can imagine, this has been heart-breaking for us, but we are so grateful for the hospital team to give Lorelei every opportunity, and allowing us the chance to spend her final moments together and spend quality time as a family.

After being in the NICU for over two months, we have seen first hand the incredible work that the Neonatal Nurses, Consultants and Staff do for all the babies that are in their care. The level of support offered to us has been nothing short of exemplary, especially in what is one of the most challenging and everchanging environments to work in.

In an attempt to raise awareness and funds for the NICU, I will be undertaking The South Coast Ultra challenge, walking 100km over 2 days alongside a team of other members of staff at Wildern School.

Any donations, sharing of the page and support would be massively appreciated! It's such an important thing to talk about to help support each other!

Thank you for reading!
