Ria's fundraiser for Education Futures Trust

Ria Paine is raising money for Education Futures Trust

Hastings Half Marathon · 23 March 2025

Enhancing opportunities, goals and aspirations to support our community to achieve their full potential. We run various projects and courses which improve life chances and build resilience and confidence. We work with adults and children within our community, as well as local schools.

Story

Once again I am lacing up my trainers and trying to raise money for Education Futures Trust.

Running has been missing in my life for a while now and this seemed like a perfect opportunity to raise some much needed funds whilst finding my running mojo again.

In 2023 I joined the Charity, my role was to oversee the catering provision to help provide a small revenue to support the incredible courses that are run all through the year by a team of enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated coaches and key workers.

It was in that moment that my eyes were opened to a world that I wasn't aware even existed.

All courses are free and fully funded, the support and mentorship that is offered through these courses are vital in improving our participant's lives, the lives of the children we encourage and inspire to succeed, the mental health and wellbeing of the adults that attend our sessions, the alternative provisions we provide for those within our society that are vulnerable and struggling is all given for free.

However funding is becoming harder to achieve as resources are stretched. We want to continue the important work that we are all so passionate about. By challenging myself and increasing my fitness I can hopefully raise awareness of EFT and help put some pennies in our funding pot.

Please if you can spare anything and help me to achieve my target I will be incredibly grateful.

Our mission

"Education Futures Trust (EFT) aims to improve the life chances of children, families and vulnerable adults in Hastings and the surrounding area by helping them realise their potential and overcome the social, emotional and educational barriers to achievement.

Focusing on the needs of the most disadvantaged and excluded residents; we build resilience to enable sustainable change. We work holistically, providing learning through forest schools, conservation work, our Shore Academy, sport and catering experiences, whilst offering projects that include:

*keyworkers who support vulnerable children and families

*coaches who provide 1-1 intensive support for adults with multiple issues

*a parenting practitioner who builds positive child-parent relationships

*alternative provision for children struggling in mainstream education

*a CCG funded Health and Wellbeing Hub, which involves coordinating systems and services in north-east Hastings."
