Our story
The annual Palegrimage, organised by the Golden Smog, sees breweries far and wide donate a cask or pin of beer. The challenge is for teams to get this beer back to the Smog under their own steam. Every penny raised by the teams and from the sale of the beer goes to the Great North Air Ambulance. Since 2016 over £60,000 has been raised by the event!
On Friday the 22nd of August myself and the team will begin trekking the 60km (including a section paddling on the river tees!) from Wensledale Brewery, Leyburn to Bayonet Brew in Northallerton (for a SECOND Keg) then on to the Golden Smog, Stockton-on-Tees.
In addition to the walk I will be shaving my beard off for the first time in 16 years.
The shave will take place throughout the walk, the faster I raise the money the quicker the beard comes off.
Any contribution to this effort would be greatly appreciated. X
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 2,083 call outs in 2024 alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
