Story
Ricardo Premchand is scaling Three Mountains. Support him and Support Solicitors facing Tough Times.
Ricardo is taking on the biggest challenge of his life over a 3-week period. He is climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, followed by Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales, and then Scafell Pike in England – one each week during the end of September and beginning of October.
It will be an impressive ascent of around 3,400 metres in total, which is more than a third of the height of Mount Everest!
As well as forming a significant personal physical challenge, he is also raising vital funds for The Solicitors’ Charity, the organisation for which he works. The Charity provides a range of essential wellbeing support to solicitors, their families and those who are retired in England and Wales. This support covers more areas than you might think, from career coaching to access to therapy, and from practical help when ill to lending a hand financially. This is the only charity with solicitors as its sole focus.
In a tireless training schedule involving running and gym work, Ricardo completed the Richmond half marathon in August after taking up running at the ripe old age of 53! He was told by his doctor that his plantar fasciitis injury was so bad that he probably should forget about running for fitness or recreation. So, it makes his return to fitness and completing testing physical challenges like half marathons and mounting climbing all the more remarkable! He advises that on his this training schedule he can eat what he likes – including lobster and steak.
Throughout September, and kicking off with International Charity Day, The Solicitors’ Charity will celebrate the people, partnerships and contributions that make its work possible. The campaign recognises that solicitors are often the people others rely on during periods of pressure, uncertainty and significant personal change. Behind that professional role, however, they may be managing difficulties involving their own health, family, finances, careers or emotional wellbeing.
Please support Ricardo if you can, with any amount – small or large – every pound makes a difference to an individual facing a crisis. Thank you.
