Story
I assume we’re all broadly agreed: Cancer bad, Research good...?
Turns out 35 years of working in theatre doesn't necessarily equip one to carry out the Research side of it, so instead I'm going to run (or at least try and run!) 70 miles from Carlisle to Gateshead in June in one day.
This is far further than I've run before, and may well break me!
I’m raising money to help by supporting brilliant scientists who are turning donations into discoveries, treatments, and hope. Every pound you give fuels work that saves lives, extends futures, and makes the world a bit fairer to those facing the toughest fight.
It impacts us all, directly or tangentially.
My mum had a nosebleed back in 2019 which resulted in a biopsy showing cancer, and underwent a significant operation to remove the tumour.
Early the following year she was diagnosed with bowel cancer (thankfully, early) and cancer was removed with keyhole surgery.
All ok until 2022, when another lump appeared in her mouth, with cancer present again.
6 weeks of radio therapy later the scans are still clear...
This is far from a unique story.
1 in 2 of us will get cancer, 3.5 million are currently living with a cancer diagnosis.
I know it's a hard time for many, but if you can, please give; not for my mum, but for all of our families.
Thank you x
