Story

Last year I ran London 2024 for Sarcoma UK to support my friend Jo White who has been fighting Stage 4 Sarcoma Cancer since 2014 raising £1915. This year I thought it would be a good idea to do it again in Paris!

Jo is the most inspirational person to many and I have been privileged to know him for the last 6 years. I am running the Paris Marathon for him to raise funds for a charity which offer great support to fellow Cancer Fighters and do great research in this very rare type of Cancer that comes in many forms.

Jo’s first battle started with a large GIST tumour which was removed via the Whipple’s Procedure. This removed a large part of his liver and pancreas along with a section of small intestine and duodenum. Since initial treatment it has come back mainly in the Liver and more recently on his Aorta which was treated with SABR radiotherapy successfully.

Jo ran the London Marathon on Chemotherapy last year 2024. It took him a longer than he is physically. capable of but if you experienced the daily pain that he does due to the pain in his feet and hands as side effects of Chemotherapy Tablets you would understand what an achievement this was.

So onwards over the channel I will now go fuelled by Croisants and Pain Au Chocolats I have been hitting the road harder than last year. I have so far completed 120km in January, aiming for 140km in February and 150km in March as my preparation. Training is going well. I‘m aiming to run 4hrs 30mins and would really appreciate your help in donating to my cause!

Marathon training is tough especially when you have to work full time. It involves running around 4 hours per week with lots of warming up, warming down, stretching, massage gunning and ice bathing especially at 47 years old. I wish I was 25 and able to head out for a run jump in the shower and not feel a thing the next day!
