Beachy Head Marathon · 26 October 2024

Our team provides response to search & rescue emergencies to search for vulnerable missing people. We provide nationally qualified search dog teams to support Sussex Police, or anywhere in the UK. We do this 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All our team members are volunteers.

Story

I am stepping outside my comfort zone by taking on the Beachy Head marathon. The race is billed as the toughest marathon in the South with over 3,500feet of climbs, 200 steps (stairs) with most of the 26.2 miles off road on the South Downs.

While taking on this challenge, I would like to support and fundraise for Search Dogs Sussex. I am proud to have been an operational member of this incredible team for over 7 years, and am now a Team Leader.

Your donation will help keep me, my team (humans and dogs) equipped for all weather and maintain our readiness for call outs 24x7x365.

As a member team of Lowland Rescue we provide response to search & rescue (SAR) emergencies in order to search for, rescue and recover those missing or in distress or potential distress.

The missing people we are requested to search for typically don't know they are lost, or don't want to be found. Dementia, Mental Illness, Despondency are all very common reasons we get called out.

The team is made up entirely of volunteers, who give their time freely.

We are funded entirely with donations and fundraising. Your donation will help support the operational readiness of me, my team mates both dogs and humans.

Thank you for supporting me and the team carry on serving the community, saving lives.
