Story
In April 2027, I’ll be running the London Marathon for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my stepdad, Robert Brind.
Bob was my hero who had a huge influence on my adult life. He showed me a better path and encouraged me to aim towards a career in construction. As a Quantity Surveyor himself, he helped inspire me to follow the same route and become a QS.
Bob also lived with severe heart failure following a heart attack and, after experiencing complications with conventional pacemakers, went on to become the first person in the world to be fitted with a combination of three wireless heart devices.
Seeing first-hand both the impact heart disease can have on someone’s life and the positive impact advances in heart technology and treatment can achieve has given me a very personal reason for supporting the British Heart Foundation.
The training is going to be a big challenge, but I’m really looking forward to taking it on and raising as much as I can to help fund vital research into heart and circulatory diseases.
I’ll be sharing the ups and downs of the training along the way, and I’d be really grateful for any support — whether that’s a donation, sharing the page, or just giving me a bit of encouragement.
Thanks so much.
Richard
