Story
Due to the fantastic and unwavering care and support St Michael’s gives to both patients and families alike, I have chosen to go way out of my comfort zone to raise even more money for them by running the Great North Run 2025 in memory of my Dad who lost his brave battle with cancer on 5th November 2023.
Most of you who know me will know that I am not a runner, the longest I have ran is the Castaway 5k whilst working for Disney Cruise Line, so a half marathon is a huge step up. The work St Michael’s does, however, has inspired me to push myself further than I have done before and get me to my eventual goal of running a full marathon. St Michael’s is an incredible charity that helps terminally ill patients and their families through the toughest and most scary and emotional times of their lives. Words cannot describe how incredible every member of staff is at St Michael’s and this small sacrifice I am making I hope can go part of the way to showing the appreciation myself and my family have for the care they gave my Dad in the final weeks of his life. Hospice Doctors, Nurses and Staff do not get near as much as credit and funding they deserve. I hope that the a lot of people never have to need an incredible hospice like St Michael’s but unfortunately, many of us will. Any donation or awareness you are able to give to this cause is invaluable and I will forever appreciate your support. I am also fortunate enough to have my place of work, Rudding Park, select St Michael’s as their charity of the year and their continued support fantastic.
I know I asked for your support for the Midnight Walk in 2024 and I am acutely aware of how difficult things are right now for many people, but any donation, or even a share of this page is so powerful and I will endeavour to thank you either in person, over the phone or online.
Thank you so much in advance!
Rich
