On 17th May 2025, during a running event in St Albans, I experienced a life changing cardiac arrest. Thanks to the incredible dedication of the Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Emergency Critical Care Scheme (BHECCS) team, I was given a second chance at life. Their swift response and expert care saved me in that critical moment. My amazing wife, Sophie, also played a vital role by starting CPR immediately, demonstrating how every second counts in an emergency. If you'd like to learn this life saving skill yourself, here is a useful link: https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/how-to-save-a-life/how-to-do-cpr/learn-cpr-in-15-minutes
Now nearly fully recovered and back on my feet, I am proud to participate in the Blenheim 7k Fun Run on 17 May 2026 exactly one year since that day, alongside my wife, Sophie, and our two year old daughter, Bella, in her buggy. This run is not just a celebration of life but also an opportunity to give back to BHECCS, an organisation that supports people like me when they need it most.
I am aiming to raise £500 to help fund this essential service so they can continue saving lives. Your support can make a real difference so please consider donating today and join me in supporting BHECCS’s vital work.
I’d like to give a special mentions to Westminister Lodge Leisure Centre and their staff who used their debrillator on me, the member of the public who called the emergency services, the paramedics from West Hertfordshire Ambulance Service, and Harefield Hospital where I spent the next few weeks after the event.
