Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously & terminally ill children live life to the full, creating wonderful memories & bringing back a sense of normality to family life. Through specialist nursing & emotional support Claire House helps families smile when life couldn’t get any tougher.

Story

My son, Nathan, was born in May 2022. Unfortunately, Nathan had complications that we were made aware of during pregnancy. His diaphragm failed to develop which meant his lungs could not grow as they should. A serious condition known as CDH.

Medical staff at Liverpool Women's and Alder Hey went above and beyond to help Nathan but he sadly lost his battle for life 17 days after birth. The grief from losing Nathan is indescribable but the avenue of support we received from friends/family and Claire House have been absolutely invaluable.

We were referred to Claire House during the pregnancy after learning of Nathan's condition and to this day they have been a massive support for us and our families. Staff from Claire House prepared us for the worst and provided advice, information and support every step of the way. Staff became like friends who visited Nathan in Liverpool Women's, Alder Hey and his funeral.

Claire House provided a lovely hospice for us to spend time with Nathan and say our goodbyes in any way we wanted to. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will cherish that time spent and the care we received for the rest of days.

Claire House continue to keep in touch with us offering various activities and counselling and each year they hold a memory day. The memory day will always be important to us and we will always attend each year.

The work Claire House do is outstanding and I wanted to be able to give something little back and raise awareness for this incredible organisation.

Please if you can, spare a few quid and if you cannot, please share this story.
