Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Richard Fairbank (1939-2025) was an active member of the Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra in Manchester for over 50 years, most of these as Principal Clarinet. He also served as a valued committee member for many years, adding a valuable contribution to the day-to-day running of the orchestra.
Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra's concert on
Saturday 21st February 2026 at
The Avenue Methodist Church, Sale, M33 4PL
will be dedicated to Richard's memory. We'll be performing some of Richard's favourite works and the evening will feature his long-time clarinet partner in the orchestra, John Gibson, as soloist. We aim to use the event to raise money for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY, via audience donations.
Up until a few years before his sad passing in February 2025, Richard received ten years of amazing treatment and care from The Christie Hospital in Manchester, whose expert treatment and care allowed Richard to continue playing for 12 years after his cancer diagnosis in 2013.
Please donate what you can to THE CHRISTIE CHARITY in memory of our friend who passed away almost a year ago.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to THE CHRISTIE CHARITY. So, it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you in advance from Richard's family and the Gorton Philharmonic Orchestra.
