Story

Richie’s Kilimanjaro Challenge

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. As you know, I’ve done quite a few challenges over the years, but this will be my toughest ever. I’m also doing it for a cause very close to my heart – which is why I’m asking for your help.

What am I doing?

Next June, I will be taking on the mighty Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. It will be a challenging, seven-day trek. I’ll be joined by my mate Martin, who’s done quite a few “daft challenges” with me before.

Why am I doing it?

I decided to climb Kilimanjaro for two really big reasons. Firstly, it’s a huge personal challenge and something I’ve always wanted to do. But secondly, it’s a chance to raise money for Marie Curie.

Why Marie Curie?

As some of you know, I lost my mum this year – and I really wanted to give something back to a charity that looks after people at the end of their life. Marie Curie Nurses are amazing people who do incredible work. They really deserve our support.

What happens next?

I’ve started training already – and over the next few months, I’ll be spending a lot of time getting as fit as I can. I’ll be in the gym, in the pool and out there come rain or shine. You can follow my progress on Facebook and on here, where I’ll be posting regular updates.

One last thought…

It would be absolutely brilliant if you could sponsor me. It’ll give me the inspiration I need to keep going, in the months ahead and on the trek itself. It’s also for a really special cause that touches all our lives, Every penny you give will make a difference – so please help if you can.
