Story

This Sunday (January 7th, 2024) I will be setting off to walk the Norfolk Coast Path from my home in Snettisham to Wells-next-the-Sea in aid of The National Brain Appeal, which is the charity dedicated to raising funds for The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, which did much to help my wife, Amanda, through the earlier stages of her dementia. Amanda is now in a Care Home in Heacham, unable to walk or talk or feed herself, and I want to do as much as I can to help others who may be affected by this horrible affliction.

The walk will be about 32 miles, but I aim to break the trip about halfway at The Lifeboat Inn, Thornham, which has generously offered me accommodation for one night at a discount. I know this isn’t a dramatic distance, but as a not very fit 72-year-old it is far enough, especially as the way will be fraught with floods and there will be trolls under the bridges. Any encouragement will be welcome and should you wish to sponsor me I will be very grateful, whether it be at 10p, 50p, £1, or more, a mile. Just let me know via email (richardpgibbs@aol.com), text (07730893297) or messenger and I will then confirm when I have survived the ordeal.

Thank you in advance

Richard
