STEEL BONES is a volunteer led charity worign with over 1400 amputees across the UK. A community of thousands including their family members.

Story

I am running the London Marathon 2024 for a fantastic charity called Steel Bones.

Steel Bones supports amputee families to live life to the full, overcoming the trauma of amputation. They are passionate about addressing the stigma that amputees face in wider society and work to encourage greater social inclusivity.

They provide networks for people to meet as well as support and guidance. They also organise a wide range of activities that provide fun and challenging experiences ( from tug of wars to kayaking!) that build confidence and show that as amputees anything is possible, and that they shouldn't be missing out.

This charity has provided fantastic support to my Mum, a double amputee, since losing her legs to Sepsis in 2017.

Since having her life turned upside down, Steel Bones has provided great support and become a vital part of her recovery.

The networks and the great friends have become a pillar of strength for my Mum, able to support each other through their shared experience and enjoy many fun activities together.

Money going to Steel Bones will support them to carry on their incredible work, helping them reach more people, challenge stigma, and provide more activities for amputees.
