Story
My daughter Holly has a rare genetic disorder called GRIN2B. The vast majority of people with the condition are non-verbal.
The SALT (speech and language therapy) provisions in the UK are frankly appalling. They need to be so much better to help children like Holly.
I am running the Brighton Marathon to raise awareness of the dramatic underfunding of the SALT provisions in this country and funds for the charity Speech and Language UK (who explain their services below).
Any donations very gratefully received, thank you!

We are Speech and Language UK -- we want every child to face the future with confidence. 1.9 million children are estimated to be behind with their talking and understanding of words. Without the right help, this can destroy their world. They feel disconnected from their family. Unable to make friends. Unfairly punished for not following instructions they don't understand. What does the future hold for them?
We must reach children earlier, to make sure every child has the skills to face the future. We're designing innovative tools and training for thousands of nursery staff and teachers. We're giving families the confidence and skills to help their child. And we're putting pressure on politicians to prioritise support for children.
Too many children are left waiting to be understood. Help us bring speech and language skills into the spotlight so they can all flourish.
