Story
In celebration of the fact I am about not to be 82 I am carrying out my last charity hurrah with a new version of a personal triathlon all on the same day - plus a bit more!
This challenge is designed to be a joyful and memorable way to raise funds for a Foundation that makes a real difference. The charity supports a wide range of important causes, including safe havens and essential support for women and children fleeing domestic violence; supporting state schools in deprived areas; apprenticeships awards for young people entering the footwear and facilities management industries; and specialist support for injured British servicemen and women at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall.
The Foundation’s work is both practical and life-changing, and it needs additional funds to continue and grow these vital programmes plus others. This personal triathlon is a way to help champion that need and invite others to be part of something meaningful.
So what is the challenge?
It begins with an 8.2km walk around local parks

Immediately followed by an 82km cycle through Middlesex and Surrey

Finally I have found a very average wine called 'Don't Underestimate Old Men on Bicycles' and will drink 8.2 glasses as a light-hearted way to celebrate the effort and to rehydrate!

And the extra, assuming I survive the above?
I will be cycling 100km on Saturday 12th September, from St Margaret Pattens Church in the City of London to Brighton(including the dreaded Ditchling Beacon) as part of the small but finely honed group of athletes called the Pattenmakers Pilgrims!
I am in frantic training for all four trials but with different levels of commitment and success. The wine consumption seems to be the default position.......
With a target of £2000, every donation will help support the Foundation’s charitable work and the people who benefit from it. Please give generously, share the page, and help turn this personal challenge into lasting support for causes that matter.
Many thanks for checking in and reading my page.
